Sketchbooks

Sketchbooks

January 21, 20231 min read

Every year I give my students sketchbooks to start the year. Students need a place to be able to try and practice the art skills that we are learning. Students need to be taught some basic art skills in order to use these skills in integrating their art.

I just take a piece of oak tag paper and cut it in half. That way students can draw and create their own covers on the first few days of school. Then get some 9x12 art paper that I can order through my school district's warehouse. I take 20-30 pages and I cut the paper in half as well. Then bind it with comb plastic binding that is bigger than what is needed. That way if a student needs more paper throughout the year I can easily add it as needed.
